i decided to watch clue instead of pan’s labyrinth and i was like “look at me deciding not to watch creepy movies at night like a smart person” and then i was watching clue like “shit i forgot that this movie is not all laughter and fun goddammit” and now i don’t know what to watch and i’m regretting past decisions. a+ job on my life
June 2013
I am not the first person you loved. You are not the first person I looked at with a mouthful of forevers. We have both known loss like the sharp edges of a knife. We have both lived with lips more scar tissue than skin. Our love came unannounced in the middle of the night.
Our love came when we’d given up on asking love to come. I think that has to be part
of its miracle.
This is how we heal. I will kiss you like forgiveness. You will hold me like I’m hope. Our arms will bandage and we will press promises between us like flowers in a book.
I will write sonnets to the salt of sweat on your skin. I will write novels to the scar of your nose. I will write a dictionary of all the words I have used trying to describe the way it feels to have finally, finally found you.
And I will not be afraid of your scars.
I know sometimes it’s still hard to let me see you
in all your cracked perfection, but please know:
whether it’s the days you burn more brilliant than the sun or the nights you collapse into my lap your body broken into a thousand questions, you are the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
I will love you when you are a still day.
I will love you when you are a hurricane.
watching nick and norah’s infinite playlist right now. watched moonrise kingdom earlier. two of the eight i checked out form the library this afternoon. odds are good i’m going to watch another one after this. the summer movie list was my best decision ever.
Of course it’s okay, go right ahead! I’m always glad to inspire some new discussion :) Thanks so much!
MY DOG’S LITERALLY JUST LAYING IN HIS USUAL CORNER ON MY BED AND STARING AT ME AND I TURNED OFF THE LIGHT HOPING THAT WOULD MAKE HIM STOP BUT IT DIDNT HELP
I’M SO ANGRY
SOME 16TH CENTURY ASSHOLE WROTE “GOD B W YE” IN A LETTER AS AN ABBREVIATION FOR “GOD BE WITH YE”
AND IT APPEARED AS “GODBWYE”
WHICH WAS THEN READ AS “GOODBYE”
AND THAT’S WHY WE SAY “GOODBYE”
BECAUSE OF 16TH CENTURY CHAT SPEAK
50 movies that I want to watch/rewatch this summer. Subject to additions, 50 just seemed like a good place to start. These are listed in the order I thought of them, not necessarily the order I’m going to watch them; I tried to get a mix of the modern and the classic, the mainstream and the cult, animated and live action, etc. I’m pretty pleased with the result!

For those who are bothered by the exclusion of any particular movie, be advised: I have an auxiliary list, for when I finish this one (because that’s basically inevitable.) Also, I didn’t include any movies that I’ve seen too many times/too recently, so that was probably a factor. (I’m looking at you, the entire filmography of Mel Brooks.)
One down already, and I’m thinking about starting another! Man, it’s a good thing the auxiliary list is a thing…
